The New York Jets have started the season 0-5 and have continued to keep coach Adam Gase around, for now. However, Gase is not the only named rumored to be on the outs. Third-year quarterback Sam Darnold has not taken any steps forward since entering the NFL, though many teams could attribute that to the coaching and talent around him.

With the Jets possibly looking to draft a different quarterback, like Trevor Lawrence, Darnold could be shopped around. These are the three most likely destinations for Darnold.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers proved last season that they do not have a solid plan at quarterback once Ben Roethlisberger is done, and this very well could be his final season. The Steelers could trade for Darnold now and let him learn for a half-season behind Big Ben. It would also reunite Darnold with college teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Similar to Pittsburgh, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a veteran quarterback with no future plan. Darnold would gain a lot from watching how Tom Brady prepares for games, and Bruce Arians can be a good teacher as well. This could create a smooth transition, whenever Brady decides to hang it up.

3. Washington Football Team

Unlike the previous two spots, the Washington Football Team does not have a proven starter right now. After benching Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen this week, Washington pulled Allen and put in Alex Smith. While Smith returning to football is an awesome story, his nine completions for 37 yards resembled the pre-Andy Reid version of Smith. Trading for Darnold could give Washington the passer they need, allowing them to draft other positions of need.
