Wednesday was a familiar scene for St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas. The veteran turned in another quality start -- giving up three earned runs across 6.0 innings -- but he received zero support from his offense, leading to his seventh loss of the year.
Mikolas may have let his frustrations get to him after the game, as he decided to sound off on the Atlanta Braves' hitters.
Mikolas called out the Braves for taking extra time in the batter's box during Wednesday's contest. He went as far to say "they're on my time" and "they should be ready to hit" when he is, rather than prolonging an at-bat.
This seems like a trivial thing to nitpick after taking a loss. Though Atlanta's hitters were happy to call time, it was the umpires who ultimately granted it. Mikolas also had the power on the mound to make the Braves pay for what he perceived as unfair antics, but it ended up not being his night.
Atlanta went on to capture a 3-0 win on Wednesday, setting them up with chance to sweep St. Louis on Thursday. The Braves are -225 favorites to beat the Cardinals (+188), according to MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
