After missing half of the 2019 season due to injury, Matthew Stafford is back in action and playing well for the Detroit Lions. He's averaging 248.0 passing yards per game and sporting a passer rating of 91.4 — better than his career average of 89.4.

He's also made some pretty incredible highlight plays, including this one against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

This one's flying under the radar, because it only resulted in a gain of a few yards, but it was a pretty incredible throw.

Staying cool and composed with an unblocked defender in his face is nothing new for Stafford, but the ability to fire off such a perfectly-placed, high-speed spiral at that arm angle is amazing. He's almost throwing underhand around the defender, and the ball is still placed perfectly with speed where only tight end Jesse James has a chance to make a play on it.

Stafford and the Lions are 2-3 to start the season, but their losses have been against really tough competition. The Chicago Bears (5-1), Green Bay Packers (4-1) and New Orleans Saints (3-2) all rank top-12 in FanDuel Sportsbook's odds to win the Super Bowl.

Playing in the incredibly tough NFC North, however, the Lions are still heavy underdogs (+410) to make the postseason in 2020. Stafford's going to need to keep pulling off plays like this if the Lions want to stay competitive.
