Chicago Bears fans caught glimpses of what Justin Fields is truly capable of during his rookie season, but it was clear he did not fit into Matt Nagy's scheme. New head coach Matt Eberflus is hoping he can change that by introducing a West Coast system based around the young QB.

Eberflus has mentioned time and time again how he plans to focus on Fields' development and let the offense form around him. The former Ohio State standout has been adjusting well so far during the team's voluntary workouts and getting a grasp on what offensive coordinator Luke Getsy wants to do.

"I think he's in a great spot. He's been meeting with the offensive staff, and he feels very comfortable in this offense. This is a rhythm-and-timing offense. It's based in the West Coast system. It's going to be very quarterback-friendly for him."

Fields completed 58.9% of his pass attempts for 1,870 yards and 7 touchdowns (10 interceptions) in 2021. He showed off his wheels by adding 420 and 2 touchdowns on the ground across 10 starts. The fact that he was sacked 36 times goes to show how pressured he was in the backfield, though.

Eberflus is hoping he can get the Bears back to the playoffs and give the fans in the stands something positive to cheer about. Chicago's voluntary minicamp starts on April 19, which should allow new teammates to get to know one another and build chemistry both on and off the field.

The coaching staff's excitement regarding Fields' potential is obvious and a breakout sophomore campaign would go a long way in turning things around in Chicago. For now, the Bears remain a long shot to win Super Bowl 57 at +10000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl Odds.
