The Detroit Lions saw several notable departures this offseason, especially at the wide receiver position. Free agents Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay left for greener pastures, so Detroit signed Tyrell Williams and Breshad Perriman to slot in as their new top wideouts.

However, the Perriman era has been cut short.

Perriman was released by the team on Monday following their final preseason game, which is shocking given how prominent of a role he could've played for the Lions this year. However, the move was forecasted by some after the veteran struggled in preseason and had injury troubles.

Perriman has bounced around the league since 2016, suiting up in games for the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets. He was coming off of a 2020 season where he played 12 games, recording 30 receptions for 505 yards and 3 TDs.

Injuries have been a struggle for the receiver, who's only played a full 16-game slate once his career.

The Lions have +620 odds to make the playoffs this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
