With the trade of quarterback Matthew Stafford out of the way, the Detroit Lions will now turn their attention towards the NFL draft and free agency. One major decision Detroit will have to make pertains to rising talent Kenny Golladay.

As the team enters a rebuild, it might not make sense for the Lions to get into a bidding war for Golladay's services. With that in mind, here are three free agents Detroit can sign to replace Golladay.

3. A.J. Green

The Lions have five wide receivers headed to free agency this offseason, so they'll likely need to reshape their receiving corps. At the same time, they only have about $6 million in projected cap space, per Over the Cap, so they'll need to find bargains to surround new QB Jared Goff with. Veteran A.J. Green is one option. He seems headed for a new team in 2021, and he could be intrigued by a prominent role in the Lions' offense. He's still a capable pass-catcher, registering 47 receptions for 523 yards and 2 TDs in 2020, and he shouldn't command top dollar or many years on his contract, making him ideal for the Lions' transition period.

2. T.Y. Hilton

T.Y. Hilton seems focused on maximizing what could be his last free agency. The 32-year-old wideout has one decent contract left, and he could re-sign with the Indianapolis Colts, but his team may also pursue an upgrade with their copious amount of cap space. If Detroit wants to remain competitive, signing a skilled veteran like Hilton to be one of the team's top receivers would be a smart move. He posted an impressive 13.6 yards per reception in 2020 along with 762 yards and 5 TDs, so he'd fit right into the deep threat void that Golladay would leave behind.

1. Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins may be available for a discount this offseason after an injury-plagued tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs. He's exciting when healthy, posting eight scores in 2017 before managing just 8 TDs in the last three seasons combined. If he can stay healthy, though, Watkins may resemble his early career numbers as one of the Lions' main weapons, giving him the potential to be a homerun on a team-friendly deal.
