The San Francisco 49ers suffered their fourth straight loss during Sunday Night Football, and the future of Jimmy Garoppolo as the team's starting quarterback remains as uncertain as ever before. Just ask head coach Kyle Shanahan, who weighed in on the situation following an 18-30 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Shanahan shared a less than enthusiastic response when asked whether Jimmy G would remain under center in San Francisco.
"I would guess so," was Shanahan's response and not exactly the most rave review of his starting quarterback's Sunday performance.
The fifth-year coach did go on to elaborate, saying "I'm going to watch this tape and see if guys are healthy first of all. I don't even know where our guys are at. It was good for Jimmy to be able to get healthy enough to play in this game today."
Garoppolo has been dealing with injuries, but his Week 7 performance was another flop. Garoppolo tossed 2 interceptions and just 1 touchdown, his third consecutive game with an INT. He also went just 16-of-27 passing for 181 yards.
It's a tough situation because rookie Lance isn't exactly ready for the limelight either. In his lone start (with Garoppolo injured), Lance completed just 15-of-29 passes for 192 yards and 0 TDs to 1 interception.
