The first day of the 2021 Masters saw a ton of top players struggle out of the gate. In fact, the majority of the field struggled, with only 12 players carding a score under par in Round 1.

Course conditions were hard and fast, but among all of those struggles, Justin Rose had himself a day. Rose finished the day with a 7-under 65, topping the next best score by four strokes.

With Rose's lead comes new odds, and after entering the tournament with +10000 odds to win, Rose is now the clear leader in that regard at +450.

He leads Jordan Spieth, who sits in second in the odds at +750 entering Round 2.

Rose has never won The Masters before, but he had a second-place finish in both 2015 and 2017. His 65 in Round 1 on Thursday was his best career single-round score at Augusta.

Rose is an accomplished player with a ton of experience at Augusta, and while you can never count out some of the players behind him, Round 1 went just about as well as Rose could have imagined.
