3 Most Likely Jose Berrios Trade Destinations Ahead of Deadline

It is no secret that the Minnesota Twins have struggled to win games so far this MLB season. They sit in last place in the AL Central division with a 14-26 record, which means they could become sellers at the MLB trade deadline. In fact, it has been reported that starting pitcher Jose Berrios may be dealt.
@jonmorosi speculates that #Twins SP Jose Berrios could be available ahead of the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline.

Berrios is only 26 years old and entering the prime of his career. He has the tools to be a front end starter and has already posted an ERA under 4.00 in four of his six MLB seasons. With that in mind, here are three of the most likely trade destinations for Berrios.
Jose Berrios Trade Destinations
1. Toronto Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays sit just 0.5 games back in the AL East and could look to upgrade their rotation at the deadline. Although the Blue Jays already have the 11th-best team ERA in the league (3.74), everyone knows how important starting pitching becomes in the postseason. Berrios would immediately slide in as No. 2 pitcher behind ace Hyun Jin Ryu on this Toronto squad. Plus, he boasts a career average of 9.0 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched and could bring a sense of youth to this team.
2. Tampa Bay Rays
Another contending team that could use an upgrade in pitching is the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays currently have the third-best team ERA in the American League, but only have two starting pitchers that average over 5.0 innings pitched per outing. Berrios is an expensive option given he will still be under team control next year. However, Tampa Bay does have six prospects ranked in the top 100, according to MLB.com. That means the Rays have the pieces to get a deal done and add a player that can help them reach the World Series for the second year in a row.
3. Chicago Cubs
If Berrios is dealt over the the National League, don't be surprised if the Chicago Cubs are interested in the right-hander. After a poor start to the season, the Cubs have improved and now find themselves in contention for a Wild Card spot. The team could create an interesting starting trio by adding Berrios to Kyle Hendricks and Adbert Alzolay. Besides, Berrios has a career record of 51-40 and knows what it takes to get the job done. The Cubs have made blockbuster trades before, and they can't be ruled out as a possibility here.
