Jameis Winston is on the verge of making NFL history for all the wrong reasons next Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. No NFL quarterback has ever thrown 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in one season, but Winston is on pace to be the first.

Winston needs just two interceptions against the Falcons to inaugurate the 30/30 club. The Falcons rank in the bottom third of the NFL in interceptions this season, generating just 10 over 15 games.

Winston has not been afraid to take risks this season, throwing 31 touchdown passes and 28 interceptions thus far. His closest competitors in interceptions are Philip Rivers and Baker Mayfield, who are each 10 behind him with 18 interceptions thrown. Winston kept himself on pace in Week 16, throwing three picks in the first half against the Houston Texans, one of which came on his first throw of the game.

Few NFL quarterbacks are allowed to keep playing with this many interceptions to set this kind of record. No player has thrown 30 or more interceptions in a season since Vinny Testaverde did it for none other than the Buccaneers back in 1988.

In fact, no NFL QB has thrown more than 27 picks in a season this decade (that was Eli Manning in 2013), which means Winston has already become the most prolific interception machine of the 2010s.

However, Winston's passing ability has kept him locked in as the Buccaneers' starter. He ranks second behind Lamar Jackson in total touchdown passes and leads the NFL in passing yards with 4,908. The unpredictable Buccaneers' QB has been the definition of a gunslinger in 2019, to say the least.
