Isaiah Foskey Scouting Report
Foskey was an in-demand 4-star recruit coming out of high school and eventually committed to Notre Dame. The pass-rusher's freshman campaign was quiet, but he started to flash his true potential in 2020, recording 5.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
The California native then ended his college career on a tear. Foskey set career highs in TFL (9.5) and sacks (10.0) as a junior before beating those numbers again in 2022, racking up 13.5 TFL and 10.5 sacks for the Fighting Irish. The EDGE also forced 7 fumbles from 2021-22, including 6 alone as a junior.
Foskey is a physical force at 6-foot-5 and 264 pounds. His play style is best described as violent, with the defender utilizing active hands to regularly beat opposing offensive linemen. Foskey's ability to read plays exceptionally well and tackle with authority led to plenty of stops in the backfield at Notre Dame.
Though Foskey's size is a major advantage, he needs to learn how to harness his power without getting off balance. He can be reliant on his first move to make plays, which causes him to be neutralized if that fails.
Isaiah Foskey NFL Draft Prediction
There's a ton to like about Foskey, who not only possesses the size to compete at the next level, but the football IQ as well. The upside alone will be hard for teams to pass up on Day 2.
The Chicago Bears should make Foskey a priority if he's still on the board by the second round. Chicago's pass rush was one of the league's worst in 2022, posting the third-fewest sacks in the league. Foskey's production over his final two years at Notre Dame shows he's ready to contribute right away at the next level, so he would instantly give the Bears' defense a much-needed boost.
With two second-rounders, including the No. 53 selection, it's hard to see Chicago passing up on one of the most intriguing EDGE prospects in this year's class.
Prediction: Chicago Bears (Round 2, 53rd overall)
