The Charlotte Hornets are back in action on Monday night as they face the Utah Jazz at 9 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is LaMelo Ball, who missed Charlotte's last game with ankle and wrist issues.

LaMelo Ball Injury Update (1/23/2023)

The 2022-23 NBA season has been a disaster for the Charlotte Hornets and the injuries suffered by point guard LaMelo Ball have been a big reason why. The 21-year-old re-injured the same ankle that cost him 24 games earlier in the season during a win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

Ball was sidelined for Saturday's action as it was reported he was dealing with left wrist soreness as well. He entered that game listed as doubtful, so seeing him listed as questionable on Monday is an encouraging sign. If Ball is unable to suit up tonight, a return to the court this week seems likely.

Ball has the basketball in his hands on almost every possession when healthy. He leads the Hornets in both points (23.5) and assists (8.2) per game, while ranking second with a three-point shooting mark of 37.0%. Dennis Smith and Bryce McGowens should see added minutes if Ball remains out.

LaMelo Ball Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

While being labeled questionable is a good sign, Ball has no props listed on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds. He is seemingly fighting an uphill battle on Monday. Keep an eye on his points prop if he does play, though, considering the Jazz allow the ninth-most points per game in the NBA (116.6).

However, Ball is listed as an option on the FanDuel DFS market. The third-year pro comes with a price tag of $9,500, which ranks him as the fourth-most expensive point guard on Monday's slate. Ball was averaging 25.0 points and 8.0 assists over his last five games before going down, which makes him an intriguing option at PG. Having Terry Rozier as a backup option at $8,100 is a great strategy, too.
