Giants News: Farhan Zaidi Provides Bad Update on Brandon Belt Injury

After San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt left Wednesday's game early in obvious pain, the fears of injury swirled around the organization. Unfortunately for San Francisco, GM Farhan Zaidi provided an injury update that was far from reassuring.
Zaidi told reporters that he thinks there is a "good chance" Belt ends up on the injured list with this right knee injury.

Brandon Belt Injury Update
The team has yet to make an official decision on Belt's status, but this is definitely a cause for concern. If Belt ends up on the IL, that's a big loss to the Giants' lineup.
San Francisco currently sits atop the NL West with the best record in baseball at 48-26. The Giants are looking to break a four-year postseason drought and Belt's been an important piece to this hot start.
In 55 games this season, the two-time World Series champion is slashing .253/.363/.512 with 11 home runs and 28 RBIs. He's a reliable veteran that plays above-average defense at first and adds an important championship experience to this roster.
Time will tell if the Giants end up losing Belt for any considerable amount of time. In the meantime, the Giants will look to keep the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers at bay in the division race.
The defending world champion Dodgers sit 4.5 games back with a 44-31 overall record. Despite San Francisco's blistering hot start, the Giants own only +2200 odds to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook. Los Angeles retains the best odds at +380.
