After rushing for back-to-back 1,000+ yards seasons, Saquon Barkley suffered a brutal torn ACL injury just two games into his third NFL season. Barkley was surely missed as the Giants went 6-10 overall and missed the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

Giants fans are excited about Barkley's return to the backfield in 2021, however, the early progress is showing a very precautionary approach from the Giants front office and staff. According to recent reports, Barkely is in attendance at the team's mandatory minicamp but will not be participating.

Saquon Barkley Injury News

While this news isn't necessarily indicative of Barkley's status for Week 1of the upcoming season, Giants fans are surely disappointed that more time will pass before catching a glimpse at the former Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Taking out his injury riddled two-game campaign last season, Barkley has been tremendous for the Giants early in his career. He's rushed for more than 2,300 yards in those first two full seasons including 17 touchdowns. The former Penn State Nittany Lions star also racked up 143 receptions for 1,159 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns through the air.

Giants fans are likely chomping at the bit to see their young, superstar running back back in pads and taking live reps. Currently, the Giants hold +400 odds to win the NFC East, according to the latest NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
