Tight end George Kittle was on pace for another monster season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 if he hadn't suffered a devastating injury. He heads into the fall as a clear top-5 option at his position and has the upside to finish as the No. 1 tight end in fantasy football leagues.
George Kittle Fantasy Value
It's hard to ignore the sheer dominance Kittle has shown in the NFL over the last three seasons. He has racked up 3,064 yards and 12 touchdowns across his last 38 games played, for averages of 1,021.3 yards and 4 touchdowns across 16-game campaigns. The fifth-year pro also averages a reliable 67.5 yards per game in his career to go along with a 71.5% catch percentage.
Kittle is simply a target machine in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense. The 27-year-old averaged 7.9 targets per game last season and has also seen 23 red zone targets since the beginning of 2019. Those 7.9 targets per game ranked top-21 in the league across both wide receivers and tight ends.
The dynamic tight end puts up pass-catching numbers similar to wide receiver outputs when healthy. In fact, during Kittle's healthiest stretch in 2020 from Weeks 4-8, he led all tight ends in total fantasy points (88.8) and average PPR points per week (17.8).
There isn't much to not like about Kittle's upside this season. He would benefit from scoring a bit more touchdowns, but he makes up for it by getting fed the ball early and often. Kittle has performed well despite playing on a team that ranked No. 18 in the NFL last year with a 58.22% pass play percentage.
George Kittle ADP
FantasyPros' data shows that Kittle is being drafted at TE3 with an overall average draft position (ADP) of 26.4 in PPR leagues. Fantasy managers shouldn't be afraid to reach for the 49ers' star in the late second or early third round as he provides a massive weekly advantage at the position.
