Free Agency Rumors Link Bills to Top Available Running Back

The Buffalo Bills have prioritized retaining their own players to begin free agency. The team has made one notable outside addition, agreeing to a deal with talented guard Connor McGovern, but fans are wondering what else could be in the works.

Well, the latest rumors say the Bills are in the mix for a top remaining running back free agent.

Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com reports Buffalo is among "several teams still in the mix" for RB Jamaal Williams. The Cincinnati Bengals are also mentioned, along with the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.

Williams looks poised to find a new home for 2023 after Detroit signed veteran David Montgomery late Tuesday night. Now that his Lions tenure is all but over, the upcoming seventh-year pro can really test the market after trying to re-sign in the Motor City.

Williams should have no shortage of suitors after his incredible 2022 season. He enjoyed a career year, leading the league with 17 rushing touchdowns and surpassing the 1,000-yard mark on the ground for the first time ever.

This isn't the first time Buffalo has been connected to Williams this offseason, so it's clear there's legitimate interest here. Adding a major red-zone threat (14 TDs from inside the 5-yard line in 2022) like Williams could be just the thing to push this offense over the top in 2023.
