While the NFL was the only major sports league not to make any major changes to their 2020 in-season structure during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was always just going to be a matter of time before their hand was forced.

That started in Week 4, when multiple positive COVID tests forced the postponement of a game between the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, after Cam Newton tested positive, the New England Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs is being postponed as well.

Fantasy Football Postponed Game

Fantasy football managers can't make any final decisions quite yet, as the situation is still developing and the NFL hasn't made any official announcements on what's going to happen with this game.

Fantasy sites are prepared for this situation, and if the game does happen on Monday or Tuesday, most sites will credit Patriots and Chiefs players with their fantasy scores as usual. If more players test positive and this game is pushed back like the Titans-Steelers matchup, however, those players will be given scores of zero for the week.

That means fantasy managers need to be prepared with backup options if they have any Patriots or Chiefs players in their starting lineup.

This situation is especially tricky since it's developing so late in the week. If there's still no official word on when the game will be played by the time 1 p.m. on Sunday rolls around, the safest option will be to bench all of your Patriots or Chiefs players while you still have time to get replacements in your lineup.

Keep a close eye on the situation, because with fantasy studs like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in the mix, this could have a huge impact on Week 4.
