The Atlanta Falcons open up the 2022 NFL season on Sunday, Sept. 11 with a home game against the New Orleans Saints. Though Falcons fans might not have much to look forward to this year, one bright spot in the darkness is none other than 2022 first-round pick Drake London.

The talented rookie wide receiver has been dealing with a knee injury since August, leaving fans wondering about his Week 1 status. Fortunately, the Falcons gave their faithful a reason to be optimistic on Wednesday with the latest London injury update.

Drake London Injury Update

Falcons insider Scott Bair reports that London was in full gear during Wednesday's practice, which is a great reason to be optimistic. The 21-year-old returned to practice on Monday, so the fact that he's progressed this much already is great news.

Additionally, the Falcons are also listing him as the No. 1 WR on their official depth chart.

Practice is still ongoing as of writing, so it remains to be seen if London is a full or limited participant. Hopefully, it's the latter so that he has his best shot of living up to the potential that comes with being this year's eighth overall pick.

Assuming he can live up to his potential, London is the Falcons' only legitimate wideout threat. The former USC Trojan showed the type of damage he could do last fall, racking up 1,084 receiving yards and seven touchdowns over eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

As long as London continues to trend in the right direction, he'll be counted upon to help the Falcons upset the Saints. For now, FanDuel Sportsbook has New Orleans as the 5.5-point road favorite over Atlanta.
