The Chicago White Sox had a season to forget in 2022, finishing 11 games behind the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. That didn't apply to slugger Eloy Jimenez, however, who enjoyed a fine season when he was able to get on the field. Jimenez played in 84 games and slashed .295/.358/.500 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs despite missing significant time for the second straight year.
Jimenez and his teammates are ready to turn the page to 2023 under the guidance of new manager Pedro Grifol, who wants him to play the outfield more consistently.
That begs a question about Jimenez's health, but it's not something the former Silver Slugger is too concerned with because of his offseason conditioning.
Eloy Jimenez Offseason News
Jimenez spoke with the media on Monday to discuss the upcoming campaign. He used a portion of this session to hype up his offseason program.
He left out most of the details but said, "I am going to give you a surprise. I don't want to answer right now, but you'll see me in spring training."
It sounds like Jimenez is ready to come into camp in the best shape of his life, which hopefully helps him avoid the injury bug in 2023. Jimenez hasn't played more than 125 games in a single season during his career, so keeping him on the field and in the lineup everyday would be a huge boost for Chicago.
