The Philadelphia Eagles are engaged in a search for their next head coach after letting Doug Pederson go. Philly could pluck its next HC from the Andy Reid coaching tree, or they could promote a coach from the collegiate ranks. It's unclear what direction they'll take, but it is clear that they have to address the elephant in the room: quarterback Carson Wentz.

The Eagles are making a questionable pitch to prospective head coaching candidates regarding their former starting quarterback.

The fact that Philadelphia has to claim that their $20-plus million QB is "fixable" should be a major red flag to candidates, and it's likely not going to help sell anyone on taking the job.

By acknowledging Wentz's struggles, it should already give any potential coach pause, especially with the massive amount of money still owed to the QB. His contract could hamstring the Eagles and prevent any easy breakup, forcing a new coach to inherit the problem.

Furthermore, with second-round pick Jalen Hurts on the roster and showing promise, the next Eagles HC may need to navigate a tricky quarterback situation and have their every move regarding Philly's starter be scrutinized.

It sounds less than appealing to sign on for the mess that the Eagles are in, and it could hurt them in their search with the dilemma looming over the franchise.
