The Philadelphia Eagles backfield has been a cloudy situation this offseason, with draft picks and free agent signings making the running back depth chart hard to decipher.
Tuesday's final 53-man roster cuts have added some clarity to the situation, however. After releasing Kerryon Johnson two weeks ago, the team has now also cut ties with Jason Huntley.
The Eagles claimed Huntley off waivers last season after the Detroit Lions released him despite selecting him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He didn't ultimately make any impact in Philly, racking up just 19 yards on 6 touches across five games.
With Miles Sanders and Boston Scott leading the backfield and 2021 fifth-round pick Kenneth Gainwell showing a ton of promise, Huntley was competing for the RB4 job, at best.
Following his release, that depth role looks to belong to Jordan Howard, who the eagles brought back on a one-year deal in April.
The Eagles check-in as 3.5-point road underdogs in their season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Week 1 NFL odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.
