Eagles Get Concerning News With Zach Ertz Injury update

Tight end Zach Ertz briefly left the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a soft tissue injury. He was able to return, but has since not been practicing with the team. That is concerning news as it looks like the veteran's status for Sunday's game remains up in the air.

Zach Ertz Injury Update
This development doesn't necessarily mean Ertz is not going to be able to suit up this week. The 30-year-old pass-catcher has dealt with a number of injuries over the last few seasons. Giving him rest could the Philadelphia's way of mitigating any kind of risk and making sure he is ready to go in time.
Ertz played well in Week 1 hauling in both of his targets for 34 yards. He played in 58% of the offensive snaps and took part in a lot of two-TE sets with Dallas Goedert. Ertz may be coming off of a down year (335 yards), but the Pro Bowler has posted over 6,000 yards during his nine-year Eagles' career.
In the worst case scenario, Ertz is forced to miss this week's matchup in order to get fully healthy. That means Goedert would see an increased role in the passing game and backup Jack Stoll could see some action as well. For now, this is a storyline worth keeping an eye on as the week progresses.
The Eagles will look to move to 2-0 on the season when they host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. Philadelphia is currently a 3.5-point home underdog in that game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
