Los Angeles Dodgers RF Mookie Betts was scheduled to make his fifth MLB All-Star Game appearance next week until he withdrew from the event on Saturday due to injuries. However, Dodgers fans shouldn't be too disappointed as he'll be replaced by teammate 3B Justin Turner.

This will be Turner's second time attending the MLB All-Star Game after having already done so back in 2017. Nevertheless, you can't blame him if he's excited about being upgraded from reserve to replacement player.

Justin Turner News

If anyone is deserving of being an all-star replacement, it's Turner. He's been one of the Dodgers' most consistent hitters over the last few seasons. He has 14 home runs and 45 RBI through 298 at-bats on the season and his .302 batting average leads all Dodgers players. This is also the fourth time in the last five seasons that Turner has had a BA of at least .300, which goes to show just how valuable he is for the organization.

Turner is just one of the many pieces that have helped the Dodgers remain a powerhouse following last season's World Series victory. Los Angeles is currently 54-35 and sits second place in the NL West — 2.0 games behind the first-place San Francisco Giants. Even though they trail their divisional rivals, the Dodgers are still favored to win the NL West at -240 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Dodgers will need Turner to continue his all-star-worthy play once the season resumes after the break if the club hopes to win back-to-back championships. They are FanDuel Sportsbook's favorites to win the World Series at +400 odds ahead of the all-star break.
