Dark Horse Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Destination Ruled Out Prior to Week 1

The San Francisco 49ers continue to play the waiting game in regards to a Jimmy Garoppolo trade. Holding Jimmy G until the final training camp cutdown date on Aug. 30 gives John Lynch and company some time for a clear trade partner to emerge should a major injury pop up around the league.
The New York Jets had emerged as a potential dark horse in recent days after Zach Wilson went down in preseason Week 1. However, they don't seem keen on acquiring Garoppolo to hold things over until Wilson is back.
With Jimmy Garoppolo available from the #49ers, the #Jets don’t appear intent on making a move. They have confidence in Joe Flacco in the likely scenario where he starts until Zach Wilson is 100% ready. https://t.co/qplSF1iNFm

NFL Network's Ian Rappoport reports New York doesn't "appear interested" in a Garoppolo deal. The Jets, instead, will turn to veteran Joe Flacco while Wilson is out after surgery.
This certainly encapsulates how low Garoppolo's stock has dropped: New York would rather roll out the 37-year-old Flacco over Jimmy G. Though having Garoppolo start only a game or two means it wouldn't be worth the capital required to bring him in, it still speaks to the lack of interest in the 49ers' QB.
With New York apparently out of the running, San Francisco must continue to see how training camp battles and injuries shake out. The end of the month remains the likely end point to this saga, one way or another.
