Darius Slay Tweets Immediate Reaction Eagles Release

The Philadelphia Eagles' mass exodus on defense continued on Wednesday, as the team decided to release veteran cornerback Darius Slay. The move will provide some much-needed salary cap relief, but it also means fans will have to see Slay suit up for a different team in 2023.

After news of the team's decision broke, Slay tweeted out his immediate reaction.

The 32-year-old was pure class in his response. He said, "Nothing but love Philly!! Lets see where we heading next.."

It's great to see Slay harboring no hard feelings about what was obviously a tough decision for the Eagles to make. Both sides made an effort to explore a way for him to return, but it appears there was too big of a gap in contract restructuring talks to make that happen.

Slay only got better during his three years in Philadelphia. He earned back-to-back Pro Bowl nods in 2021 and 2022, recording six interceptions, 23 passes defended and 1 return touchdown during this impressive span.

Now the Eagles may turn to the upcoming draft to find a possible Slay replacement. With the No. 10 pick at their disposal, the team is in great position to nab one of the top CB talents, if they prefer.
