The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high after their 24-7 win against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. Veteran cornerback Darius Slay played a huge role in the victory, racking up a pair of interceptions and five defended passes, silencing any doubters who assumed he fell off.

Following his two-interception performance, Slay reminded reporters that he's "still at an elite level" and deserves "a lot" more respect in the NFL. The 10-year veteran certainly deserves his flowers after holding No. 1 Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson to just six receptions and 48 yards on Monday.

The fact that Slay's sole first-team All-Pro season occurred back in 2017 is one reason why some fans think he's past his prime. Nevertheless, he still made four Pro-Bowl appearances in that span and could add a fifth if his current play continues throughout the remaining schedule.

Any NFL quarterback that faces Slay this season should be scared. It's a small sample size, but the former Mississippi State defender leads the league with five broken-up passes while only giving up three completions, 68 yards and a 49.2 passer rating over the 10 times he's been targeted.

Slay playing at the top of his game helps solidify Philadelphia's secondary as one of the best in the NFL. The unit held the Vikings to only 221 passing yards and a touchdown on 27 completions, holding each of Minnesota's pass-catchers to 52 or fewer receiving yards.

If Slay can help the Eagles defense stay strong, he'll get the respect that he rightfully deserves. Fortunately, he has a great opportunity to solidify himself as one of the best CBs when his team faces the Washington Commanders in a winnable Week 3 matchup.
