After an encouraging rookie season in 2018 that saw Pettis haul in 45 catches for 467 yards and 5 TDs for the San Francisco 49ers, he was virtually invisible in 2019, starting only four games and putting up 109 receiving yards.
However, according to Pettis himself, the blame for that is solely on him. He recently explained that he did not understand Kyle Shanahan's coaching style and he took things too personally last year.
With a wide receiver group that has already experienced some loss, after Jalen Hurd went down for the year, Pettis has an opportunity to right the ship and become a viable target for a team that will desperately need that in 2020.
If Pettis' new attitude translates to success on the field, he could turn into a productive member of the Niners offense this year.
