Dalvin Cook has been banged up with a shoulder injury over the last few weeks, which has limited him to fewer than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in each the Minnesota Vikings' last three games. His outlook is even worse going forward, as the injury may now cost him the rest of the regular season.

Dalvin Cook Backup Fantasy

With Cook unlikely to play, both Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone are top-priority waiver targets for the fantasy championship in Week 16.

Before his snap share started dropping below 50 percent, Cook had averaged 19.5 carries plus 4.9 targets per game across 11 contests. With Cook banged up, Mattison saw 18 carries and seven targets in Weeks 13 and 14. Boone had 13 carries and two targets when taking over on Sunday, as Mattison was sidelined in Week 15.

The Vikings have made it clear that they aren't too concerned with who is on the field — they're going to feed whichever running back is out there.

Alexander Mattison Injury

Mattison is banged up himself, so you'll want to keep an eye on that situation before locking him in as a starter. If he doesn't play, it's Mike Boone that can be expected to take over lead back duties.

The backfield is especially interesting this week as well, drawing a matchup with a Green Bay Packers team that sits in the bottom-10 against the run according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics.

Currently accounting for both Cook and Mattison sitting out, our Week 16 PPR fantasy football rankings have Boone at RB20. If Mattison does play Boone will likely drop out of the top 30, while Mattison will rank right around 20.
