D'Andre Swift Injury Update
After going down with a shoulder injury in the first half of the Detroit Lions' Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Bears, D'Andre Swift was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the day.
The long-term impact of this injury remains to be seen, but obviously crushes his fantasy football outlook for the day. If Swift misses any further time it will provide a huge boost to Jamaal Williams' fantasy value.
Update (4:30 p.m. ET): Swift officially suffered a shoulder sprain and will undergo further tests to determine the severity.
Jamaal Williams Fantasy
Williams has seen his fair share of volume this year, but he's the clear second option in this backfield when Swift is healthy.
Williams has averaged 12.0 opportunities (9.75 carries plus 2.25 targets) per game on the season, playing 34% of the Lions' offensive snaps when active. That's compared to 20.4 opportunities per game and a 73% snap rate for Swift.
Even if Williams doesn't take over Swift's exact role, he would be a safe bet for 20-plus opportunities in any game that Swift misses. That would immediately put him into consideration as an every-week starter in fantasy football.
Fantasy managers will want to monitor Swift's status closely, but Williams should be added in any leagues in which he's still on the waiver wire.
