The Kansas City Chiefs are rolling heading into Week 11. Offseason concerns about this team's personnel changes have been all for naught, as Kansas City has started the year 7-2 and looks primed to contend for another Super Bowl appearance.
It turns out the Chiefs tried to make their roster even stronger ahead of Week 11 by attempting to add a top available running back via waivers.
Kansas City submitted a claim for RB Eno Benjamin after his release from the Arizona Cardinals on Monday. However, the AFC West leaders were further back in the waiver order and missed out on adding the promising young rusher.
The New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks also attempted to add Benjamin. However, he never made it past the first team on waivers, as the 1-7-1 Houston Texans scooped him up.
The Chiefs expressing interest in Benjamin is notable. This backfield has shifted significantly in recent weeks, with rookie Isiah Pacheco overtaking Clyde Edwards-Helaire as starter. Week 10 represented rock-bottom for CEH, who recorded zero carries for the first time this season and played just four snaps overall.
Pacheco and veteran Jerick McKinnon appear to be the team's preferred RB options moving forward. Edwards-Helaire's usage remains something to watch in the second half of the year.
