Chase Edmonds' fantasy value was set to be huge for Week 7 if David Johnson didn't suit up. Johnson was announced as active on Sunday morning, though.
This hasn't slowed Edmonds down, however, as he opened Sunday's game against the New York Giants with two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter alone.
Johnson may not be entirely healthy, as he saw only one carry on those two touchdown drives, while Edmonds racked up eight carries of his own. Edmonds also had a 59-to-2 edge in rushing yards across those drives.
Edmonds had flashed some of this big-play upside in previous weeks as well, averaging at least 5.0 rushing yards per carry in five of his first six games, and seeing 6.7 yards per carry on 24 rushes for the season.
The Giants aren't a difficult matchup, but this level of success could lead to Edmonds cutting into Johnson's workload even when the lead back is 100 percent healthy.
It's still too soon to crown Edmonds a must-start fantasy option if Johnson gets healthy moving forward, but this success and Johnson's unclear injury status means that Edmonds is certainly a must-add if he's still on the waiver wire in your leagues.
