The St. Louis Cardinals have had a successful start to the 2021 MLB season and currently sit atop the NL Central division with a 26-19 record. However, the team received some bad news regarding starting pitcher Miles Mikolas' injury update following his first start of the season.

Mile Mikolas Injury Update

The 32-year-old was originally activated off the injured list on Friday to start that evening's game. Mikolas ended up going 4.0 innings before being removed due to right forearm tightness. He only gave up one earned run, but his role in the rotation is now on hold again after being placed back onto the IL.

The Cardinals know how important it is to be careful in this situation given this kind of injury is sometimes seen as a precursor to Tommy John surgery. However, a diagnosis like that is the worst case scenario. More information about Mikolas' injury should be known in the coming days.

For now, the Cardinals will return to their original rotation and hope to keep winning ball games. The have posted a team ERA of 3.95 so far this season (T-No. 13 in MLB). St. Louis currently has odds set at -105 to win the NL Central division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
