The Cleveland Browns were forced to play the majority of their Week 2 contest without one of the team's top playmakers in Jarvis Landry. Landry caught a short throw from Baker Mayfield in the first quarter before limping off to the sideline.

He ultimately did not return for remainder of Cleveland's 31-21 victory and head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed an MCL injury following the game.

Fortunately, it looks like the Browns have avoided a major issue with their leading wide receiver. On Monday, Stefanski reported Landry's injury officially as an MCL sprain and will be placed on a week-to-week designation.

Jarvis Landry Injury Update

Based on the initial reports, and anytime a knee injury is involved, this is a bullet dodged type of situation for Cleveland. After all, Landry has been their most reliable wideout for the past three seasons.

The five-time Pro Bowler has led Cleveland wideouts in both targets and receptions each year during that span, including back-to-back seasons with at least 80 receptions in 2018 and 2019.

Clearly a favorite target of Mayfield and a playmaker that stays generally healthier on the field more than his counterpart Odell Beckham Jr., Landry's absence will be missed. But week-to-week is a much better diagnosis than the potential of missing him long-term.

The Browns head into Week 3 with a matchup at home against the Chicago Bears. Cleveland enters that clash as 7.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.
