The Milwaukee Brewers are tied with the Chicago Cubs atop the NL Central division with a record of 40-33 and cannot afford to lose starting pitching depth in this division race. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case as Brett Anderson is likely heading to the injured list with right knee discomfort.

Brett Anderson Injury Update

Anderson was removed from his start on Monday night following just 1.1 innings pitched after he suffered a bone bruise legging out a double-play grounder in the top of the second inning. The veteran left-hander has already missed 15 games earlier this season with a right hamstring strain.

Although Anderson was having an up-and-down season, his leadership and experience was a major benefit to this starting rotation. Overall, the 13-year pro has posted a 4.69 ERA and 1.458 WHIP through his first 12 starts of the season.

"I’m going to come in [Tuesday] and see how it feels. Hopefully there’s nothing more than some swelling or anything like that. It’s unfortunate."

There is no set timetable on a return date for Anderson quite yet, but an update should be released by the Brewers in the next week or so. For now, the Brewers will hope they can rely on stellar starting trio of Corbin Burnes (2.62 ERA), Freddy Peralta (2.28 ERA) and Brandon Woodruff (1.94 ERA) to lead the way.

The Brewers have odds set at +1800 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
