With NFL free agency rapidly approaching, teams are cutting down their rosters to free up cap space. That has added some very interesting players to this year's loaded pool of available free agents.

Bleacher Report has projected one of these recent cuts to sign with the Buffalo Bills — former New Orleans Saints tight end Jared Cook.

Jared Cook Bills

This move would make a ton of sense for GM Brandon Beane. He was likely hoping for a second-year breakout from Dawson Knox, but that never materialized. In fact, Knox has never eclipsed 400 receiving yards, while Cook has recorded at least 500 yards in four straight seasons.

Knox has also never had a receiving grade from ProFootballFocus higher than 56.6, while Cook hasn't fallen below 72.8 in any of the past three seasons. That includes a stellar 2018 campaign that saw him post the league's fourth-best receiving grade at the position, per PFF.

Even at 37 years old, Cook would be a huge upgrade over Knox, who could still shine in a reduced role.

But the age factor means the Bills likely wouldn't have to break the bank to sign him, as they would if they pursued someone like Hunter Henry or Jonnu Smith. And Buffalo offers him a legitimate shot at a Super Bowl ring, which has to be enticing to the 12-year veteran.
