3 Biggest Blowout Wins for the Falcons Over the Saints

The NFC South has often been known for offensive firepower without much defense. So, when one team is capable of putting on a strong defensive performance, things can quickly turn into a blowout. There are many examples of this in the history of the rivalry between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints.
With that in mind, here are the biggest blowout wins the Falcons have ever scored over the Saints.
3. Nov. 1, 1981: ATL: 41 | NO: 10
This 31-point blowout took place back when Steve Bartkowski was playing quarterback for the Falcons. He turned in a solid day, passing for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns on only 20 attempts. All three of his touchdown passes went to Alfred Jenkins, who finished the day with 5 receptions for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns. Archie Manning was the quarterback on the wrong side of the scoreboard in this one.
2. Dec. 12, 1982: NO: 0 | ATL: 35
A little over a year later, the Falcons pulled off the complete shutout. This time, it was the Atlanta running game that did most of the damage, with Gerald Riggs and Lynn Cain combining for 3 touchdowns on the ground and another through the air. The great Ken Stabler had a not-so-great day for New Orleans throwing 3 interceptions and being sacked five times.
1. Sept. 16, 1973: ATL: 62 | NO: 7
What a way to start a season. In this Week 1 matchup, it was all Atlanta. Dick Shiner completed 13-of-15 passes for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Dave Hampton added 104 yards on the ground. It again was Manning on the wrong side of history, throwing 5 interceptions in the blowout. He was only able to win 35 games over his entire 151-game career.
