The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have signed Ben McLemore for the remainder of the season.

McLemore was released by the Houston Rockets on Sunday as they look to continue rebuilding their team. Houston initially intended to trade him before the deadline, but they couldn't find any takers.

The former Kansas product started four of the 32 games he played in this season. In 16.8 minutes, he averaged 7.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

It's been a difficult journey for McLemore, whom Sacramento drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2013 draft. In his eight seasons in the league, he's only averaged double figures on two occasions. McLemore was expected to draw interest from contending teams as his 36% shooting from beyond the arc can benefit a team down the stretch. He joins a growing list of Rockets players that have been jettisoned by the team.
