The Chicago Bears seem unable to break out of their funk, losing their sixth straight game in Week 13. With the Bears looking like a sinking ship, all the attention is on their captain, head coach Matt Nagy.

Some believe that the Bears will let Nagy go sooner or later. Even though he's still employed by Chicago, news on who the Bears could pursue if he's fired has already been leaked.

It's been reported that the Bears will have Northwestern head coach Pat Fitgerald at the top of their head-coaching wish list if they have an opening following the season.

Fitzgerald has spent the last 15 years as coach of the Wildcats, electing to stay Evanston rather than move on to the next level. Northwestern has gone 104-80 in the coach's 15 seasons, with Fitzgerald earning four bowl wins and a Big Ten Coach of the Year award win in 2018. The Wildcats are 5-1 this season, including a home win against then-No. 10 Wisconsin on Nov. 21.

Nagy served as an assistant and offensive coordinator before joining the Bears in 2018. Chicago went 12-4 in his first year, but finished 8-8 last year and is currently 5-7.

The chance to coach a storied franchise like the Bears could be enough to finally sway Fitzgerald away from the college ranks.
