NFL training camp is right around the corner, which means veterans and rookies alike are going to be battling it out for the last few roster spots available. Chicago Bears insider Courtney Cronin recently revealed one free agent signing in danger of being cut before even playing a snap with the team.

Cronin explained how safety Dane Cruikshank finds himself on the roster bubble right now. After spending four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, the 27-year-old was signed to a one-year deal in hopes that he would be Eddie Jackson's go-to backup. That may not be the case anymore, though.

The Bears selected Penn State standout Jaquan Brisker in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and early reports claim he is immediately impressing the coaching staff with his versatility. Seeing him rise would leave Cruikshank competing for a roster spot with seventh-round pick Elijah Hicks.

It's worth noting that Cruikshank is coming off the best season of his NFL career. He logged 43 tackles, 1 pass breakup and 1 forced fumble while appearing in 46% of the defensive snaps (14 games). Cruikshank's ability to excel on special teams could give him a big leg up on Hicks, too.

Cruikshank also became a fan favorite in Tennessee for his physical play. He was able to take on opposing tight ends like Travis Kelce and George Kittle and limit their impact on offense. For now, the Bears have odds set at +10000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
