The Chicago Bears have been without lead back David Montgomery since Week 4 as he's dealt with a knee injury. Khalil Herbert has taken over Montgomery's role, but having the latter back would be a huge boost to this offense.

The latest on Montgomery is amazing news as the Bears prepare for Monday Night Football.

David Montgomery Return

Montgomery is expected to be activated prior to MNF and suit up for Chicago, according to Ian Rapoport. That's a serious shot in the arm for a unit that's struggled to put up points this season.

Montgomery's absence came on the heels of a 106-yard, 2-TD performance in Week 4. He's recorded 309 yards and 3 TDs on the year. Hebert filled in beautifully with Montgomery sidelined, recording 344 yards and 1 TD since Week 5.

The return of Montgomery gives Chicago a two-headed backfield to lean on. The Bears own the league's worst passing offense at just 127.4 yards per game, so their RB duo may have to carry them if they're to keep up in the playoff picture.

Chicago is a 7-point underdog ahead of kickoff against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
