The Los Angeles Angels pulled off a trade on Tuesday night to help bolster and upgrade their outfield for next season. The Angels dealt pitchers Janson Junk, Elvis Peguro and Adam Seminaris in exchange for Milwaukee Brewers veteran outfielder Hunter Renfroe.
Angels Hunter Renfroe Trade
Renfroe represents an immediate upgrade in the outfield and projects to be the Angel's starting right fielder now. Still just 30 years old, Renfroe can be both a productive bat and a veteran presence, along with playing Gold-Glove quality defense.
Renfroe slashed .255/.315/.492 last season, belting 29 home runs with 72 RBI. The Angels are expected to see some roster shakeup this offseason following yet another disappointing season in 2022 that saw them miss the playoffs once again. With a looming Shohei Ohtani free agency after the 2023 season, Los Angeles has to figure out its direction as a franchise, and this move might be a small or first step toward that.
After the trade, the Angels are tied for 15th in the majors at +4000 to win the 2023 World Series according to FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
