Less than two full games since Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending injury, Dallas Cowboys backup QB Andy Dalton has suffered what appeared to be a serious injury of his own.

Now rookie seventh-round pick Ben DiNucci has taken over at QB, which downgrades the fantasy football outlook of the entire Cowboys offense.

Andy Dalton was not playing well at all, and everyone had already received a significant downgrade with him at the helm. But Dalton is a viable journeyman QB with a proven ability to at least be decent at the NFL level.

DiNucci, on the other hand, was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of James Madison, where he transferred for his senior season after spending his first three years at Pitt.

DiNucci threw for 1,107 yards with 6 TDs to 7 interceptions on 167 career attempts at Pitt before impressing with 3,441 yards, 29 touchdowns and 6 interceptions against CAA competition.

Ezekiel Elliott Fantasy Outlook

This offense may lean more heavily on Ezekiel Elliott now, but a drop in efficiency from the offense struggling as a whole will still downgrade Zeke's value.

Amari Cooper Fantasy Outlook

Dalton was already failing to prop up three fantasy-relevant wideouts. With another QB downgrade Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup's value all take hits. Cooper could prove to be the only viable fantasy option with DiNucci at the helm.

DiNucci himself doesn't offer any fantasy value in typical fantasy leagues, and even in two-QB leagues he's unlikely to be worth a roster spot.

There's no word yet on how long Dalton may be sidelined, but fantasy managers with any Cowboys on their teams should have their fingers crossed that it's not an extended absence.
