The San Francisco 49ers took care of business in the opening round of the NFL Playoffs, setting up an exciting 49ers vs Green Bay Packers NFC Divisional Round clash.

49ers vs Packers Divisional Round

Not only does this matchup feature two of the best teams in the NFL, but it pits Packers QB Aaron Rodgers against the 49ers — one of the teams he's struggled against in the playoffs.

Rodgers vs 49ers

The Rodgers vs 49ers storyline comes with all sorts of drama. While the Packers QB has a solid 6-3 record against San Francisco in the regular season, he's yet to beat the 49ers in three postseason meetings. Despite already being one of the best players in NFL history, finally getting postseason victory over San Francisco would give doubters one less thing to talk about.

There's also the fact that Rodgers is from the Bay Area and would have loved to be drafted to San Francisco. The 49ers ended up passing on him, leading to the infamous quote below:

Rodgers vs 49ers Head-to-Head

As mentioned before, Rodgers is 6-3 in nine all-time head-to-head regular season matchups against the 49ers, but that changes to a 6-6 record once the postseason is included. Nevertheless, he's tallied 3,357 passing yards and 25 touchdowns to five interceptions in those 12 meetings, so it's not like the losses have been on him.

Rodgers and the Packers enter this upcoming NFC Divisional Round clash as clear 5.5-point home favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Rodgers vs 49ers Stats

Rodgers enjoyed another statistically impressive season despite being 38 years old. He started in 16 games this season, finishing with 4,115 passing yards and 37 touchdowns to four interceptions, while also leading the NFL with a 111.9 quarterback rating.

The Packers and 49ers previously met in Week 3 of the season, which resulted in a 30-28 Green Bay victory. Rodges completed 69.7% of his passes that game for 261 passing yards and a pair of TDs.

Rodgers vs 49ers Draft

The San Francisco 49ers had the first overall pick at the 2005 NFL Draft but opted to go with Alex Smith. Meanwhile, Rodgers ended up being selected by the Packers at No. 24.

Rodgers vs 49ers History

Aaron Rodgers has been named to 10 Pro Bowls and seven All-Pro teams throughout his career. He also helped Green Bay win a Super Bowl during the 2011 season and is a three-time NFL MVP. In other words, it's easy to see why the 49ers may regret passing up on him in 2005.
