A new English Premier League (EPL) season may be upon us, but the oddsmakers appear to be expecting more of the same from the outset.
Manchester City is the odds-on favorite to win the 2019-20 Premier League title with -240 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Last year's runner-up, Liverpool F.C., owns the second-best odds at +280 odds to win it all.
Pep Guardiola's side remains well-intact from his previous EPL-winning roster, and with all-world talent like Sergio Agüero (21 goals), Raheem Sterling (17 goals), Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Ederson (21 clean sheets) still featured in the starting XI, the Citizens look more than capable of pulling off the three-peat.
Liverpool should provide City with ample competition this upcoming season. The Reds, who are coming off a UEFA Champions League-winning campaign, finished just one point behind Man City in last season's EPL table, thanks in part to an EPL-best defense (22 goals allowed) and 2018-19 Golden Boot winners Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané (22 goals each).
Tottenham Hotspur, at +2100 odds, have more than enough talent to make things interesting as well, finishing fourth on the 2018-19 table with 71 points, in addition to a runner-up finish in the UEFA Champions League.
One long shot worth mentioning would be the Wolverhampton Wanderers (+17000), who finished a surprising seventh on the table (57 points) last season, despite playing in the EFL Championship the season prior.
The EPL season is a long one and these odds will easily change as the year goes on. However, as long as the Man City machine keeps rolling, it will likely be tough for any other team to dethrone them.
