The Boston Red Sox are the reigning World Series champions, but surprisingly, the New York Yankees are projected to win more games than Boston.
On the FanDuel Sportsbook, the Yankees over/under is currently set at 96.5 wins, while the Red Sox over/under is listed at 95.5 wins. The Yankees won 100 games in the regular season last year and the Red Sox won 108.

This does make sense though, as the Red Sox's bullpen took a hit this offseason. Boston is likely losing its superstar closer Craig Kimbrel to free agency, and it already lost Joe Kelly to the Los Angeles Dodgers. On the other hand, the Yankees fortified an already-elite roster, signing valuable contributors like James Paxton and Troy Tulowitzki.
The New York Yankees today announced that they have signed OF Aaron Hicks to a 7-year contract extending through the 2025 season, with a club option for the 2026 season. This contract replaces his 1-year contract for 2019 that was announced on Jan 11.— New York Yankees (@Yankees) February 25, 2019
This is shaping up to be another classic battle for the AL East crown between Boston and New York, but don't rule out the Tampa Bay Rays quite yet. Their over/under is listed at 84.5 wins. All three of these teams should pad their stats whenever they play the lowly Baltimore Orioles, whose O/U stands at 60.5 wins.
Ultimately, regardless of whether or not you support the Red Sox or Yankees, baseball is undeniably more fun when these two are at their best. And with FanDuel Sportsbook setting both Boston and New York's over/unders around 100 games, this looks like it's going to be an exciting battle.
