Losing Earl Thomas for the season was a tough blow for the Seattle Seahawks, but apparently, it was an even bigger blow to the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to reports, the Chiefs were actually frontrunners to acquire Seattle's All-Pro safety and were in the process of clearing cap space to make the deal happen. Well, they were until he fractured his leg this past weekend, that is.

Despite their impressive 4-0 start, Kansas City hasn't been as dominant on the defensive side of the ball as they have been in previous years. Acquiring a healthy Earl Thomas would have significantly improved their league-worst defense.

However, even in an ideal world where the deal took place, Thomas' presence wouldn't have made Kansas City's defense fantasy relevant in any capacity. As has been the case all season, it's probably best to stay away from the Chiefs' stop unit from here on out.
