The Los Angeles Dodgers currently trail the Colorado Rockies by 1.5 games in NL West, but Vegas doesn't seem to be looking at those standings.
Somehow, the Dodgers remain the favorites to win the division.
Despite having one less win and two more losses than the Rockies, the Dodgers sit at -130.
Oddsmakers must be looking at the run differential for these teams, as the Dodgers are +133, but the first-place Rockies are at -2. Yep, they're 15 games over .500 but have scored two fewer runs than they've allowed this season. Even the third-place Arizona Diamondbacks are +72.
The Dodgers and Rockies have a three-game set in LA starting next Monday, which should shift the odds again, in one direction or the other, causing one of the two NL West teams to miss the playoffs.
Now might be a good time to take the Rockies at plus-odds as time has proven that you need to beat the best to be the best, and Colorado is just that right now.
