Offensive line depth is vital to have in today's NFL and the San Francisco 49ers recently shored up the position by signing veteran free agent Senio Kelemete. This news comes after young backup offensive tackle Justin Skule tore his ACL during practice, likely missing the entire 2021 season.

Kelemete is expected to have a decent shot at making the Week 1 roster after the injury news to Skule. The 31-year-old lineman has NFL experience playing both guard and tackle, which could come in handy for the 49ers.

Kelemete appeared in 14 games with the Houston Texans last season (5 starts) and excels in pass protection. In fact, ProFootballFocus had Kelemete tied for fourth in the league in terms of pass-blocking efficiency among guards following the 2017 season.

As a former fifth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals back in 2012, Kelemete will now be joining his fourth different NFL team in his career. Overall, he has played in 88 games over his eight-year career and drew starts in 42 of them.

The 49ers will look to make it back to the playoffs this fall after an injury-plagued 2020 season destroyed any hopes of that. San Francisco heads into 2021 with the fourth-best odds to win the Super Bowl set at +1300, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
