San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell was unable to return in Week 11 following recovery from recent finger surgery. All eyes are on Mitchell after the RB returned to practice this week, though in a limited capacity.

The latest on the rookie back isn't particularly encouraging.

Elijah Mitchell Injury Update

Mitchell was once again limited at practice on Thursday. This follows reports earlier in the week that Mitchell used his left hand while catching and taking handoffs, which seems to indicate him protecting the injured finger on his right hand.

These aren't the promising signs for Mitchell's playing status in Week 12. It's hard to see him being a full participant in practice with how things have gone thus far, so he'll likely be questionable at best heading into Sunday.

Getting Mitchell back would be a huge boost as the 49ers face the surging Minnesota Vikings. Mitchell has rushed for 560 yards and 3 TDs on 116 attempts this year.

San Francisco may be forced to roll with Jeff Wilson (who was underwhelming in Week 11), Trey Sermon and Deebo Samuel out of the backfield if Mitchell is unable to go.

The 49ers are 3-point home favorites against Minnesota in Week 12, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
