49ers Get Mixed News With Trent Williams Injury Update Ahead of Wild Card Game

The NFL's Super Wild Card Weekend is approaching and the San Francisco 49ers are scheduled for a playoff matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The run game has been critical to San Francisco's success all year, which is why it'd be ideal to have left tackle Trent Williams back in the lineup.
The 11th-year veteran sat out of San Francisco's regular-season finale with an elbow injury. Now his latest injury update has given mixed signals to both the 49ers and their fans.

Trent Williams Injury Update
Williams did not participate in San Francisco's practice on Wednesday. While that's not the best news, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Williams Is "better today than he was on Sunday." What that means for his chances of playing this weekend remains to be seen.
The nine-time Pro-Bowler started in each of his 15 games played this season, playing 97% of offensive snaps. He allowed just one sack on 936 snaps and his 98.3 overall ProFootballFocus grade further illustrates how he's one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL.
Sunday's 49ers ve Cowboys matchup is expected to be a tight one, so San Francisco will need Williams to be at his best if he plays. As it stands, the 49ers are 3-point road underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
